What Time Is It? (Part 2): World Or God

by Pastor Afolabi Oladele

And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereofRomans 13:11-14

If we fail to wake out of sleep, we lose consciousness of how close our salvation is. Like the foolish virgins Matthew 25:1-12, we fail to hear the cry, the alarm heralding the arrival of the Bridegroom. Without the oil, they are stuck in darkness of worldliness, in the works of darkness, caught swimming naked when the tide is running out! What shame, what embarrassment when their rioting and drunkenness becomes exposed and their licentious living screams, drawing attention.

Dearly beloved, it is time to cast off the works of darkness, the things we would not want to be seen with when the light of the day comes. Move out of modern culture that tells you to do what comes naturally to you. That approach only leads to the self-centered and sinful living that we are warned will be common place in 2 Timothy 3:1-5. Think on this. Shalom

This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. 2 Timothy 3:1-5
