What Time Is It? (Part 1)

by Pastor Afolabi Oladele

And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereofRomans 13:11-14

Apostle Paul startles us here prompting us to reflect on our consciousness of what’s going on around us! To awake from sleep is a clear indication that some sleeping is going on. The Lord also spoke in Matthew 13:24-30 concerning this sleeping time. Let’s examine the salient points of this parable.

The act of the enemy, coming and sowing seed while men slept, was then — and still is — a common form of Eastern malice or revenge. Note the sown seed:

  1. easily escaped detection; and;
  2. inflicted both loss and trouble.

The “enemy” had the satisfaction of brooding for weeks or months over the prospect of the injury he had inflicted, and the vexation it would cause when discovered. The tares, known to botanists as Lolium temulentum or darnel, grew up at first with stalk and blade very much like the wheat; and it was not till fructification began that the difference was easily detected. Darnel is a kind of rye grass, and the only species of the grass family of which the seeds are poisonous. The effect of eating darnel is violent nausea, convulsions, and diarrhea, which frequently ends in death. Such is the gravity of the doctrines of devils taught through false teachers and the satanic agenda perpetuated by his agents in political garbs – the political rulers of this world, when we believe them and act upon them, the end is death.

Beloved, look around you within and without the confines of the church and just listen to the worldwide but common messaging and proclamations of the media. Can you see, can you comprehend what the enemy is doing? Selah
