Eben’s 2016 hit God All By Yourself gave full expression to who Yahweh Elohim is:
Mighty God, I bless Your name
Holy one, I worship You
For You are God all by Yourself
You are God all by Yourself
Age to age, You’re still the same,
All creation will shout Your name
For You are God all by Yourself
You are God all by Yourself
For who You are, I bless Your name
For You are, I worship You
For You are God all by Yourself
You are God all by Yourself
For who You are, I bless Your name
For You are, I worship You
You are God all by Yourself
You are God all by Yourself
Sinach’s song, Great are You Lord, came with a similar refrain:
Great are You, Lord
Greatly to be praised
Greatly to be praised
Father, You reign
Jehoshaphat and Judah faced with the hordes from Edom (think of the roots of these two nations, then you will understand, how close your adversary can be) went to Yahweh Elohim and declared in 2 Chronicles 20:6 (NLT)—O LORD, God of our ancestors, You alone are the God who is in heaven. You are ruler of all the kingdoms of the earth. You are powerful and mighty; no one can stand against You!
And what can you do against Him or for Him? Your complaints, grudge or resentment have no effect on Him! He is complete that nothing you do takes away from Him! Anything good that you do is for your own good! Elihu, the youngest of Job’s friends in the time of his distress declared in Job 35:3-8 (NLT):
For you also ask, ‘What’s in it for me? What’s the use of living a righteous life?’ “I will answer you and all your friends, too. Look up into the sky, and see the clouds high above you. If you sin, how does that affect God? Even if you sin again and again, what effect will it have on him? If you are good, is this some great gift to him? What could you possibly give him? No, your sins affect only people like yourself, and your good deeds also affect only humans.
So, I ask dearly beloved, will you depend on His faithfulness or continue in the rebellion of the ingrate! Selah.
