Locked In With God In The Secret Place

by Pastor Afolabi Oladele

Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast. For, behold, the Lord cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain. Isaiah 26:20-21

But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. Matthew 6:6

The words of the song go thus:

            Locked in with God in the secret place;

            There in the secret beholding His face;

            Taking new power to run in the race;

            I want to be locked in with God.

The emphasis is on who you are praying to and where! You would only pray to one who is superior to you and who has capacity and ability to act upon and answer your prayers. Step back and search you heart how you truly see this God you are praying to? For a refresher, take a look at the confessions of a man who had come to the realisation of who this God is – and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honoured him that liveth for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation: And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou?…Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase. Daniel 4:34b-35, 37.

Adopted as a son – John 1:12, as a son, how do you approach your father? Is it with a prejudiced heart that has a hard cast opinion of him? How we need to remember that He knows our hearts and thoughts – Psalms 139:2 and Proverbs 16:1. How we need to come with an honest heart, free of guile and pretence so we tell Him the way we feel in these times! This is no hour for pretence and in the secret place, you are alone with Him, you can tell Him all your fears and anxieties. He will answer and save as He promised. Selah.
