Living His Life In The Community of Believers (Part 5)—Getting His wisdom

David prayed for Solomon in 1 Chronicles 22:11,12—Now, my son, the Lord be with thee; and prosper thou, and build the house of the Lord thy God, as he hath said of thee.Only the Lord give thee wisdom and understanding, and give thee charge concerning Israel, that thou mayest keep the law of the Lord thy God. For this reason we ought also to request others to pray for us for wisdom.

Paul prayed consistently for the churches in:

Ephesians 1:17, 18 (TPT)—I pray that the Father of glory, the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, would impart to you the riches of the Spirit of wisdom and the Spirit of revelation to know him through your deepening intimacy with him. I pray that the light of God will illuminate the eyes of your imagination, flooding you with light, until you experience the full revelation of the hope of his calling —that is, the wealth of God’s glorious inheritances that he finds in us, his holy ones!

Colossians 1:9 (TPT)—Since we first heard about you, we’ve kept you always in our prayers that you would receive the perfect knowledge of God’s pleasure over your lives, making you reservoirs of every kind of wisdom and spiritual understanding.

Don’t shy away from asking trusted friends to pray for you, asking God to give you the wisdom that is necessary to handle what you face. So also must you intercede for others for daily wisdom for daily walk in life that the fruit of righteousness may be constantly manifest.

What if God invited you to ask for anything in life? What would you ask of Him? One fears that we are too earth-culture conscious and quickly forget that we are ambassadors, kings and priests. Kings and priests share certain common traits of power, service, humility and respect for others as is evident from the following scriptures:

  1. Psalm 78:70-72; 2 Samuel 23:2-5 speaking to the qualifying characteristics of David; and
  2. Malachi 2:5-7; Deuteronomy 33:8,9 speaking to the Aaronic priesthood. They are even more accentuated in the Melchisedek priesthood to which the New Testament believer belongs.

This is where the admonition of Apostle James in James 1:5,6 should shape our individual response to ask, because the same invitation given to Solomon is open to us; and we should note the distinction between the four different type of wisdoms in James 3:13-18.

Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom. But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace. James 3:13-18

Choose divine wisdom which fills the entirety of the word of God, the Holy Bible. Spend time reading, meditating and praying the word and you will see how profoundly your life will be changed. Shalom.
