Orphans In The Storm (Part 1): John 14:18

The continuing volatility across the world on the socio-political and economic stage is enough to unsettle anyone not consciously grounded in the scriptures concerning the events that characterise the last days.

Luke 21:25, 26 (TPT) paraphrased, declares that

Expect to witness amazing and perplexing signs with the sun, the moon, and the stars. The raging of the sea will bring desperation and turmoil to many nations. Earthquakes will bring panic and disaster. What men see coming to the earth will cause the fear of doom to grip their hearts, for they will even see the powers of the heavenly realm shaken! [Men will be like orphans in the storm!] Luke 21:25-26 (TPT)

Twice we see the picture illustration of an orphan in the storm in the following scriptures

  1. Mark 4:35-38 is an example of when we are powerless against the mortal danger that prevailing environment poses to us, and He appears not to be rising to our help until we cry out. Yet our crying out, is it out of the frustration of abandonment (only the weight of sin can cause that) or is it in confidence that His presence will preserve us from the mortal danger when we cry to Him?
  2. In Matthew 14:22-24 they obeyed His instruction to go ahead of Him and it looked as though they were led into a storm, again battling for their lives! But He tracked them even when they did not expect. His eyes and heart followed them and when His presence came on scene they screamed in terror—He was walking as Master on the threatening high waves! The high waves stopped.

Are you in a storm, such a storm that threatens your existence, remember and take to heart His word, I will not abandon you or leave you as orphans in a storm (John 14:18 TLB). As our ever-present family, He the Holy Spirit keeps us company. His presence is evidence of love and companionship, loyalty and support. Don’t allow anything persuade you of abuse, hurt, bitter disappointment, abandonment and loneliness. He is with you.

Over the next four postings, we will share specific testimonies culled from a compilation in UCB’s book titled In The Middle Of The Storm. The Lord will use these testimonies that showed His interventions in the lives of His children. He will do the same for you.

Selah.
