We need wisdom of the Holy Spirit to deal with the periodic troubles we face. His is the wisdom of seeing:
- things from God’s eyes (present), and
- through the lens of His vision (future) -John 16:13,14.
His wisdom is knowledge compounded by grace, such as is ascribed only to the Eternal (Rom. 11:33-36).
O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out! For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor? Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again? For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen. Romans 11:33-36
The Eternal God had judged and put a damper on David’s remaining days as king in 2 Samuel 12:10,11, yet a few verses later we run into something quite surprising, God’s overcoming grace. He gave David and Bathsheba a God-loved son, endowed beyond any man that lived on the face of the earth (2 Sam. 12:24-25; 1 Kings 4:29-34).
Indeed, no power of hell, neither yet the scheme of man could ever thwart God’s plan and purposes for a repentant elect! This must keep us humble with renewed reverence for our maker when it comes to judgment of His people. Jesus Christ being God, is such embodiment of wisdom, possessing perfect knowledge; He has no need to learn. There is no scrap of information, no byte of data or spark of genius that He has not known from eternity past. He compasses and surpasses all facts. He comprehends and transcends all reality and in Him are the treasures of all wisdom (Psa. 139:1-17; John 8:11).
Beloved, remember God’s grace is always around the corner, when our backgrounds, our past and our mess condemn us, or men condemn and consign us as useless outcasts, Luke 2:20 speaks. O broken one, there is life again. Shalom.
