When are you mostly aware of His presence as promised in John 14?
And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby), that He may remain with you forever—The Spirit of Truth, Whom the world cannot receive (welcome, take to its heart), because it does not see Him or know and recognize Him. But you know and recognize Him, for He lives with you [constantly] and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans [comfortless, desolate, bereaved, forlorn, helpless]; I will come [back] to you… Jesus answered, If a person [really] loves Me, he will keep My word [obey My teaching]; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home (abode, special dwelling place) with him. John 14:16-18,23
To what degree have you consciously invited Him to be at home in your heart? How has your practice of intimacy with Him developed this year?
Oh that you can give Him your whispering thoughts, freed from the clutter of secular ‘must-dos’; can you create unbroken communion with Him? The time spent in traffic, the time in checking the junk mails?
Whispering thoughts can transform these moments to pilgrimages of thank You, Lord or I believe and stand on Your word or yet my desire Lord is to give You pleasure. These we can do anywhere, turning the kitchen to cathedral or your classroom to chapel.
Do you intentionally conclude the day talking to your Father, thanking Him for the good parts, question and expose the ‘not so good’ parts asking for mercy and strength to overcome; and as you close your eyes resting on the assurance of His promise that He that watches over Israel neither sleeps nor slumbers?
Make a commitment to start today and see where this leads you by the end of the year. Shalom
