Where are our women believers’ today in the proclamation of recovery of the backslidden and salvation of the lost? What’s the excuse for sitting on the lees (Zephaniah 1:12)?
A search of the scriptures reveals enough on this that we draw attention to in today’s admonition. There were women shepherds:
- Racheal (Genesis 29:9)
- Zipporah, Moses’ wife (Exodus 4:24-26). Her word choice, selection of (the flint) instrument and the way she circumcised her son reflected her knowledge of priestly work. Together with her shepherd instinct of protecting the flock, and her priestly knowledge she appeased the wrath of God and saved Moses’ life.
Take a close look at the scriptures, time to study again 1 Corinthians 14:32-35; 1 Timothy 2:12; 1 Timothy 3:1-7.
True that our Lord selected men to be apostles, the Lord also had female disciples, several of who followed Him on mission were amongst the apostles during missions, and financially supported His ministry (Luke 8:2,3).
Several women were included in Paul’s ministry – Priscilla, Phoebe and Junia, Euodia, Syntche as outlined in Romans 16:1-7; Acts 16:15; Acts 18:24-27; 1 Corinthians 11:3-6, and despite the long-held interpretation of women not being allowed to teach, it was never said women cannot teach women (Titus 2:3-5)!
How long will you lie among the pots when there is promised transformation, elevation and adorning! Arise and work for the night is here when you cannot work anymore (John 9:4). Arise that you may be a partaker of the song of the redeemed (Isaiah 25:1-9). Selah.
