As we approach the end of 2025, we are one year closer to our promised home, heavenly Jerusalem. The question is how many will reach there? As I listened again to this fading, yet at one time, very popular song more for its choreography than its message – Jerusalema, a wave of sobriety hit me. The words of the song were a prayer to be taken to a better place, sadly the message was missed just as many of us believers do considering the promise of heavenly Jerusalem.
The earthly Jerusalem in the millennium is described in Psalm 122:3-5.
Jerusalem is a city restored in beautiful order and harmony. This is where the tribes come, the tribes of Israel, to give thanks to the Lord according to his command. Here the kings of Israel sat to judge their people. Psalm 122:3-5 GNT
The lyrics of a hymn say, glorious things of thee are spoken, Zion city of our God, drawing inspiration from several scriptures that are worth your study, if only to see clearly and value our promised end (Psalm 87:2, Psalm 132:13, and particularly Hebrews 12:22-26 further described in Revelation 21:9b-27).
But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, to the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, and to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel. See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven: whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven. Hebrews 12:22-26
Is the attraction strong enough to shape your walk? Don’t just start well on this journey but finish well and strong. The time is at hand. Selah.
