The Righteous Judge Approaches

There is no healing of thy bruise; thy wound is grievous: all that hear the bruit of thee shall clap the hands over thee: for upon whom hath not thy wickedness passed continually?Nahum 3:19

For thus saith the Lord, Thy bruise is incurable, and thy wound is grievous. There is none to plead thy cause, that thou mayest be bound up: thou hast no healing medicines. All thy lovers have forgotten thee; they seek thee not; for I have wounded thee with the wound of an enemy, with the chastisement of a cruel one, for the multitude of thine iniquity; because thy sins were increased. Why criest thou for thine affliction? thy sorrow is incurable for the multitude of thine iniquity: because thy sins were increased, I have done these things unto thee. Therefore all they that devour thee shall be devoured; and all thine adversaries, every one of them, shall go into captivity; and they that spoil thee shall be a spoil, and all that prey upon thee will I give for a prey. For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the Lord; because they called thee an Outcast, saying, This is Zion, whom no man seeketh after. Jeremiah 30:12-17

O Nigeria, political and religious leaders, will you not return? Your corrupt political system makes mockery of God’s plans (Isa. 33:22).

The judges—the judicial system take bribes to pervert justice; the investigation system (all the other crime fighting bodies) and the standards of judgment set by the legislators are all twisted.

Judges and officers shalt thou make thee in all thy gates, which the Lord thy God giveth thee, throughout thy tribes: and they shall judge the people with just judgment. Thou shalt not wrest judgment; thou shalt not respect persons, neither take a gift: for a gift doth blind the eyes of the wise, and pervert the words of the righteous.Deuteronomy 16:18-19

Corrupt judges accept secret bribes, and then justice is not done. Proverbs 17:23, 26 speaks, and more is declared of them in Psalms 94:20-23 and Isaiah 10:1-4.

Corrupt judges accept secret bribes, and then justice is not done…It is not right to make an innocent person pay a fine; justice is perverted when good people are punished.Proverbs 17:23, 26 (GNT)

Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with thee, which frameth mischief by a law? They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn the innocent blood. But the Lord is my defence; and my God is the rock of my refuge. And he shall bring upon them their own iniquity, and shall cut them off in their own wickedness; yea, the Lord our God shall cut them off.Psalms 94:20-23

What sorrow awaits the unjust judges and those who issue unfair laws. They deprive the poor of justice and deny the rights of the needy among my people. They prey on widows and take advantage of orphans. What will you do when I punish you, when I send disaster upon you from a distant land? To whom will you turn for help? Where will your treasures be safe? You will stumble along as prisoners or lie among the dead. But even then the Lord’s anger will not be satisfied. His fist is still poised to strikeIsaiah 10:1-4 (NLT)

The lawgivers—the legislators leave the truth to serve themselves; they prey upon the people (Psa. 10:2-7), trap them with false promises to get their votes and extort the God-given resources intended to serve the populace. They walk contrary to Romans 15:1.

We then that are strong [in position of advantage, power or strength] ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.Romans 15:1

Of the Executives, political heads, and church leaders, the standard laid down for all is as written in Romans 15:1 but the Executives—their shepherds, political and religious, devour them (Jer. 23:1,2)

“Woe to the shepherds who are destroying and scattering the sheep of my pasture!” declares the Lord. Therefore this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says to the shepherds who tend my people: “Because you have scattered my flock and driven them away and have not bestowed care on them, I will bestow punishment on you for the evil you have done,” declares the Lord!Jeremiah 23:1-2 (NIV)

More is spoken concerning them in Ezekiel 34:1-6. God will hold them accountable for those who have “japaed” (see Zech. 11:15-17; Mic. 3:1-5, 9-11).

And the Lord said unto me, Take unto thee yet the instruments of a foolish shepherd. For, lo, I will raise up a shepherd in the land, which shall not visit those that be cut off, neither shall seek the young one, nor heal that that is broken, nor feed that that standeth still: but he shall eat the flesh of the fat, and tear their claws in pieces. Woe to the idol shepherd that leaveth the flock! the sword shall be upon his arm, and upon his right eye: his arm shall be clean dried up, and his right eye shall be utterly darkenedZechariah 11:15-17

And I said, Hear, I pray you, O heads of Jacob, and ye princes of the house of Israel; Is it not for you to know judgment? Who hate the good, and love the evil; who pluck off their skin from off them, and their flesh from off their bones; who also eat the flesh of my people, and flay their skin from off them; and they break their bones, and chop them in pieces, as for the pot, and as flesh within the caldron. Then shall they cry unto the Lord, but he will not hear them: he will even hide his face from them at that time, as they have behaved themselves ill in their doings. Thus saith the Lord concerning the prophets that make my people err, that bite with their teeth, and cry, Peace; and he that putteth not into their mouths, they even prepare war against him…Hear this, I pray you, ye heads of the house of Jacob, and princes of the house of Israel, that abhor judgment, and pervert all equity. They build up Zion with blood, and Jerusalem with iniquity. The heads thereof judge for reward, and the priests thereof teach for hire, and the prophets thereof divine for money: yet will they lean upon the Lord, and say, Is not the Lord among us? none evil can come upon us. Micah 3:1-5,9-11

Seeing the things which have been written, do not be swayed to join them in their wickedness, for even the people are following what is written in Ezekiel 34:17-19! They will sell their mother, kill their father or neighbours for a piece of bread!

The true Judge, lawgiver and king is at hand (Isa. 33:22) and will save those in relationship with Him. Hold fast and let neither man nor circumstance take your crown. Selah.
