Consider the context of this verse—There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas, called the Twin, and Nathanael from Cana of Galilee, also the sons of Zebedee, and two others of His disciples. Simon Peter said to them, I am going fishing! They said to him, And we are coming with you! So they went out and got into the boat, and throughout that night they caught nothing. John 21:2-3 (AMPC)
What could have led to this? Our frailty is that we want to be in control, we want to know everything ahead of time, but whenever fears and uncertainties wean us from under the cover of our Helper, the Holy Spirit, we go back to our old man and its ways. Called to be fishers of men, they were drawn to a lower calling of their choice of fishing for fish! Don’t end up like they did, with nothing.
Please cease from working outside of the control and guidance of the Holy Spirit, particularly in these times as we see His coming approaching; it will be like fishing on the wrong side of the boat coming back with nothing. Shalom.
