Remembering The Promise

One of the setbacks that the believer was warned about by the Lord Jesus Christ is walking in or pursuing the direction the world dictates. John 16:33 speaks:

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world

John 14:27:

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

The destination the world leads you to is rife with tribulation and into a peace that is certainly different from the peace the Lord gives to His own. Again you have a choice to make, greatness as taught by the world or that which the Lord teaches!

There is a permanence suggested regarding the peace which the Lord gives, certainly not conditional neither transient as the peace the world gives. Such is the Lord’s peace that even in the midst of trouble triggered by the world, the presence of the Lord with the believer shields and protects. Paul builds upon this truth in our text for today –

And let the peace (soul harmony which comes) from Christ rule (act as umpire continually) in your hearts [deciding and settling with finality all questions that arise in your minds, in that peaceful state] to which as [members of Christ’s] one body you were also called [to live]. And be thankful (appreciative), [giving praise to God always]. Let the word [spoken by] Christ (the Messiah) have its home [in your hearts and minds] and dwell in you in [all its] richness, as you teach and admonish and train one another in all insight and intelligence and wisdom [in spiritual things, and as you sing] psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, making melody to God with [His] grace in your heartsColossians 3:15-16 (AMPC)

You are the one to allow that peace to rule in your heart through a deliberate act of allowing His word settle the issues or challenges that come and maintaining an attitude of gratitude, praise and positive confession of His promises. Beloved, are you troubled or challenged, let these words work for and in you? Shalom.
