Does this sound strange to you, that you can and should enjoy the Lord? God is not a sitting terror, waiting for you to fail and then pound on you! So have I found out and I would like to show you how to enjoy Him from our texts for today.
But let them all be glad, those who turn aside to hide themselves in you. May they keep shouting for joy forever! Overshadow them in your presence as they sing and rejoice. Then every lover of your name will burst forth with endless joy. Lord, how wonderfully you bless the righteous. Your favor wraps around each one and covers them under your canopy of kindness and joy. Psalm 5:11-12 (TPT)
Drink deeply of the pleasures of this God. Experience for yourself the joyous mercies he gives to all who turn to hide themselves in him. Worship in awe and wonder, all you who’ve been made holy! For all who fear him will feast with plenty. Even the strong and the wealthy grow weak and hungry, but those who passionately pursue the Lord will never lack any good thing. Psalm 34:8b-10 (TPT)
Three things should grab our attention:
- There is a deliberate turning aside to hide yourself in Him;
- There is the attitude of singing and praising, rejoicing not complaining and gripping in His presence; and
- The assurance of favour that wraps and keeps you under the canopy of His kindness, strong and fully provided for!
Wow! Such is what makes for the testimony of enjoying the Lord. I have found it so and that belongs to you too. O taste and see that the Lord is good, make full proof of this secret now made open. Shalom.
