Receiving God’s Power

Only through the quickening of our understanding and all the promises by the Holy Spirit can this happen –

Ephesians 1:13-19 TPTAnd because of him, when you who are not Jews heard the revelationof truth, you believed in the wonderful news of salvation. Now we have been stamped with the seal of the promised Holy Spirit. He is given to us like an engagement ring, as the first instalment of what’s coming! He is our hope-promise of a future inheritancewhich seals us until we have all of redemption’s promises and experience complete freedom—all for the supreme glory and honor of God! Because of this, since I first heard about your strong faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and your tender love toward all his devoted ones, my heart is always full and overflowing with thanks to God for you as I constantly remember you in my prayers.I pray that the Father of glory, the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, would impart to you the riches of the Spirit of wisdom and the Spirit of revelationto know him through your deepening intimacy with him. I pray that the light of God will illuminate the eyes of your imagination, flooding you with light, until you experience the full revelation of the hope of his calling—that is, the wealth of God’s glorious inheritances that he finds in us, his holy ones! I pray that you will continually experience the immeasurable greatness of God’s power made available to you through faith. Then your lives will be an advertisement of this immense power as it works through you! This is the mighty power.

Both the Jewish and Gentile believers have become common partakers of this promised power, a point attested to also by Apostle Peter.

2 Peter 1:3-4 TPTEverything we could ever need for life and godlinesshas already been deposited in us by his divine power. For all this was lavished upon us through the rich experience of knowing him who has called us by name and invited us to come to him through a glorious manifestation of his goodness. As a result of this, he has given youmagnificent promisesthat are beyond all price, so that through the power of these tremendous promiseswe can experience partnershipwith the divine nature, by which you have escapedthe corrupt desires that are of the world

The confluence of these two scriptures, viz, the active seeking through prayer of the understanding by all who have received the first fruit is NOT for earthly gain or fame; it is for our release into the glorious liberty of the sons of God who having escaped from the corruption of the world through its lust are committed to the pursuit of:

  1. His kingdom purpose of delivering others from the Kingdom of darkness and delivering same into the kingdom of God that John 10:16, John 15:16-17 and 2 Corinthians  5:18-20 (NLT/MSG) might be fulfilled in us; and
  2. immortality.

Oh that we will lift up our eyes, soul and spirit from the earthly to the heavenly; it is all about God and not gain. The ultimate pursuit is being like Him and operating like Him and for Him. Selah.
