Certainly, we can be one with one another and with the Lord Jesus Christ and the Father!
First the ability to do comes from Him, but there must be the submission on our part. This much is expressed in Philippians 2:12b-13 (AMPC)—work out (cultivate, carry out to the goal, and fully complete) your own salvation with reverence and awe and trembling (self-distrust, with serious caution, tenderness of conscience, watchfulness against temptation, timidly shrinking from whatever might offend God and discredit the name of Christ). [Not in your own strength] for it is God Who is all the while effectually at work in you [energizing and creating in you the power and desire], both to will and to work for His good pleasure and satisfaction and delight.
Since the capacity and the energizing of that capacity comes from Him, bring your vessels to Him in full submission, letting Him do what He pleases with your life.
Then, if we could catch a glimpse of what He has preserved for His elect saints, the hunger and thirst for that willingness will saturate our beings. The apostles wrote of this:
So God can point to us in all future ages as examples of the incredible wealth of his grace and kindness toward us, as shown in all he has done for us who are united with Christ Jesus. Ephesians 2:7 (NLT)
That is what the Scriptures mean when they say, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him.” But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets. 1 Corinthians 2:9-10 (NLT)
I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us. Philippians 3:14 (NLT)
Beloved, we are God’s children right now; however, it is not yet apparent what we will become. But we do know that when it is finally made visible, we will be just like him, for we will see him as he truly is. And all who focus their hope on him will always be purifying themselves, just as Jesus is pure. 1 John 3:2-3 (TPT)
If only we caught in full measure, an understanding of what is reserved for us, we willingly will shun all the baits Satan daily throws at us. Consider the things that matter to the Lord as recorded in Matthew 8:19-20 and Luke 9:58-62 and make up your mind to obey Luke 14:25-33. Selah.
