Can A Man Hide In Secret Places?

Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the Lord. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the Lord (Jer. 23:24).

Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do (Heb. 4:13).

For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither any thing hid, that shall not be known and come abroad (Luke 8:17).

Living alone away from my wife in Los Angeles during my paid postgraduate work at UCLA, in the era of free love, the late 70s, was perhaps the greatest test of faith for me. In one of those moments of loneliness, the secretary to my supervising professor, thinking she had an answer, recommended that I take a girlfriend on the campus, ‘easy as picking a hamburger.’

But does He not see, even when no one is there? Therein was my victory over the allure of seemingly secret sin! I remembered the matter of Thomas the Twin (John 20: 24-28) and how the Lord appeared to help his failing faith, that it was better to cry to Him to answer my specific need, no secrets! I say no secrets, but in telling Him exactly the way I felt and what I feared, I saw 2 Corinthians 9:8 in action, not with respect to giving, but with respect to observing Romans 6:12-13. How one year of abstinence passed was a wonder!

Recall Zacchaeus the rich tax collector whose heart yearned to see the Lord but who was incapacitated by both his stature and the prejudice of the people; Jesus sought Him out. So dear child of God, you must drop your guard with the Lord. David understood the futility of hiding from Him as he declared in Psalm 139:1-15, he considered that every day of his life was written in God’s book even before he lived them!

So dearly beloved, how long do you want to hide from the only One who can help you without shaming you?

For we do not have a High Priest Who is unable to understand and sympathize and have a shared feeling with our weaknesses and infirmities and liability to the assaults of temptation, but One Who has been tempted in every respect as we are, yet without sinning. Heb. 4:15 (AMPC)

This is the day of deliverance. Seize the occasion, get on your knees and spill it out to Him and refreshing will come upon your soul.
