There are many who say,
“Who will show us any good?”
Lord, lift up the light of Your countenance upon us.
You have put gladness in my heart,
More than in the season that their grain and wine increased. Psalm 4:6-7 TLB
Psalm 4:6-7 sets out food for thought for every child of God as we enter the second half of this transition year, 2020! What defines better times, as many have wished for, considering all that befell the whole world during the first half?
This scripture lifts us to a new realm of persuasion; that what is needed the most is that the Lord should lift up His countenance upon us! Little wonder His instructions on how the priesthood was to bless Israel.
“The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His countenance upon you,
And give you peace.” ’ “So they shall put My name on the children of Israel, and I will bless them.” Numbers 6:25-27 NKJV (note vs. 26 in particular).
Our quest rather is to obtain the joy of the Lord, which is greater than the blessings of harvests that are limited in true life impact. The Lord admonished Baruch in Jeremiah 45:5, an admonition that is befitting for each of us at this time.
And seekest thou great things for thyself? seek them not: for, behold, I will bring evil upon all flesh, saith the Lord: but thy life will I give unto thee for a prey in all places whither thou goest. Jeremiah 45:5
Don’t be pushed around by the winds of circumstances and worldly counsel, abide in His place of cover. Shalom
