Satan never stopped playing for the woman’s attention knowing something major would happen through her; a reality that should put our women more on guard! The imagery of the wrath of Satan against the woman is shown in a dimension in Revelation 12:5,6.
Just as Adam in naming the animal defined their nature in the names, naming the one taken from his side, Adam defined her nature, wo(mb)man; the incubator, the nurturer sharing the nature of the eternal God, El-Shaddai! Would God then shut out His nature? No! Woman, you carry the nature of the eternal God!
The redeemed woman only needs to find her place again and will function properly. The redeemed woman is free from all curse, just as the man, and can function fully in the realms and giftings of God in her life as she also submits to her husband if she’s married. In Joseph we see the disposition of a godly man or husband! Was Joseph in the know of the ultimate purpose declared in Matthew 1:19-21?
Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily. But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. Matthew 1:19-21
It is clear Joseph didn’t have foreknowledge of God’s specific plan in Mary’s life? He may have known of the promise that the redeemer would come out of the lineage of David (Judah), he most certainly did not know that this would fulfil in his own line as there would have been others in the lineage of Judah; he never allowed emotions to run wild! Or why would he acquiesce to such a major and ‘scandalous’ demand or assault on his anticipated joy of consummating his marriage, a demand for delayed gratification? His fear of God, and the visitation of the angel enabled him to defer a legitimate demand, the joy of legitimate sex. More than that Joseph was drawn into breaking ‘tradition’, thereby drawing to himself, societal ostracization, that would later be visited upon his adopted son, Jesus (John 8:41), where the legitimacy of the Lord’s birth was brought to question and that Mary was guilty of fornication because no proof of virginity was presented at the ‘ketubah’.
Such is the imagery of what a man whose wife has a calling upon her life would have to deal with! Neither let ego nor tradition stand in the way of a woman with a proven calling of God in her life. O man, seek God and listen to him for what you do not understand because with or without your consent God’s will shall be done. Selah.
