Why Worry When You Have A Willing Helper (Matthew 11:28-30)

I found this TikTok post quite appropriate to share and learn from. It goes thus “Would you pick up a glass of water? Hold it up in front of you for a brief moment, say a minute, and you feel no pain. If you were to hold on to it for an hour, your arm will begin to pain. If you held it up all day long your arm will feel numb and paralyzed. While the weight of the glass of water has not changed, the longer you hold on to it, the heavier it becomes.

The stresses and worries of life are like this glass of water. If you think about them for a little while, there is no problem. The longer you think about them then the hurt sets in. If you thought about them all day long, then you become paralyzed, incapable of doing anything.”

The Lord our God knew our frame and the damage that holding on to the stresses and worries of life could do to us and He instructed in Matthew 11:28-31(TPT)—Are you weary, carrying a heavy burden? Come to me. I will refresh your life, for I am your oasis. Simply join your life with mine. Learn my ways and you’ll discover that I’m gentle, humble, easy to please. You will find refreshment and rest in me. For all that I require of you will be pleasant and easy to bear.

Picture in your mind what He is saying and start this year resting on His unfailing word and His faithfulness to His own as your burden sharer, if you truly are His. Shalom
