There are demands placed on every believer walking the path to perfection in Christ and in today’s post we take a look at some of these demands.
1. In nothing shall you be offended
Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them. Psalm 119:165
2. For the Lord said, the reproaches of those that reproached you fell on me (Rom. 15:3; Psa. 69:9) and thus it is required of you to take up the remainder of the suffering of Christ, as you suffer in your flesh you bear the burden of His church, His body, which is why you are a servant of Christ. This is the evidence of a surrendered life, not the accolades of men.
Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body’s sake, which is the church. Colossians 1:24
For all who belong to me now belong to you. And all who belong to you now belong to me as well, and my glory is revealed through their surrendered lives. John 17:10 (TPT)
3. So if you understand that the evil or good that anyone does to you, that it is not because they have the power but because God allowed it, you cease to fight men, but rather submit to the will of Him who allowed it.
Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin. John 19:11
Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels? Matthew 26:53
4. Therefore you must labour, toil, labouring combating according to His working which works in you with power, praying for all your brethren that our hearts may be united in love and be encouraged.
5. Be kind to everyone. There is no need to be hostile, demeaning or disagreeable with someone who doesn’t share your viewpoint. What’s driving you towards such unkindness? Must you prove people mistaken to validate your self-worth?
6. Be able to teach, instead of trying to force your opinions on others, simply say “Here is what l have discovered in God’s word and here is the difference it has made in my life.” Your experience is never at the mercy of someone else’s argument. Do not be resentful for only when your own hurts have been healed can God use you to heal the hurts of others. Selah.
