You need wisdom today—true and genuine wisdom! You might ask why? That will become obvious over the next series of postings, but first let’s identify what defines true wisdom.
James 3:17 sets out the following as the identification marks of true wisdom:
- Pure, undefiled
- Peaceable
- Gentle
- Willing to yield—give way as of the way of love defined in 1 Corinthians 13:4c-5 (MSG)—doesn’t have a swelled head, doesn’t force itself on others, isn’t always “me first,” doesn’t fly off the handle
- Full of mercy and good fruits
- Without partiality, without hypocrisy
This kind of wisdom comes from the mouth of God (Prov. 2:6) and such is ours for the asking (Jam. 1:5). And when He obliges us with wisdom, then do as commanded in Proverbs 4:5-9 (TPT), the benefits are worth more than silver and gold can confer (Prov. 3:13-18; 8:11,18-21). You will fear God and turn away from evil.
So make wisdom your quest—search for the revelation of life’s meaning. Don’t let what I say go in one ear and out the other. Stick with wisdom and she will stick to you, protecting you throughout your days. She will rescue all those who passionately listen to her voice. Wisdom is the most valuable commodity—so buy it!
Revelation-knowledge is what you need—so invest in it! Wisdom will exalt you when you exalt her truth. She will lead you to honor and favor when you live your life by her insights. You will be adorned with beauty and grace, and wisdom’s glory will wrap itself around you, making you victorious in the race. Proverbs 4:5-9 (TPT)
Hebrews 2:1 (AMPC) says, “we ought to pay much closer attention than ever to the truths that we have heard, lest in any way we drift past [them] and slip away.” Do this and you will see yourself not walking in assumption and presumption in these dangerous times. Selah
