Being with God and outside the accepted norms of this present world is not new. Consider our text: Jeremiah 31:2,3 spoken to the remnant of Judah after the nation’s decimation by the Babylonians:
Thus saith the Lord, The people which were left of the sword found grace in the wilderness; even Israel, when I went to cause him to rest. The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore, with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.
Note that the remnant found grace in the wilderness, not in the comfort. Although spoken to the remnant of Judah, vs. 3 has a lesson for this generation of the offspring of the promise made to Abraham in Genesis 12:3; Genesis 18:18.
Genesis 12:3 (KJV):
And I will bless them that bless thee and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
Genesis 18:18 (KJV):
Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him?
This everlasting love was further declared in John 3:16; Titus 2:11-14.
John 3:16 (KJV):
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Titus 2:11-14 (KJV)
For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
And the eternal God is LOVE – 1 John 4:8 – who gave Himself for you, me and whosoever will believe in Him. Are you in or out of the band of those who have believed?
He cannot change His nature, hence His love for us is not like the human’s that fluctuate with circumstances; it is independent of my conduct but as many as truly know this love will seek to please Him always (2 Corinthians 5:14-15 (TPT).
I didn’t build this LOVE so I cannot dismantle Him and nothing that you do can make Him stop loving you. If you have strayed, first stop that thought that He doesn’t love you anymore and then return, staying under the permanent and unchanging divine canopy. Do not let disobedience, transgressions and rebellion which are matters of grave consequences characterize your life anymore. It is time to enjoy the fulness of His love. Shalom.
