The Walk of Faith (Part 2): A Woman of Prayer And Faith—Esther 4

A slave to become queen, what an outrageous thought! What did Uncle see or what was he thinking of to bring up the idea of her participating in the search for a new queen in this foreign land?

Mordecai must have seen in Esther, not just a beautiful face, but more as a woman of faith, determination and a leader. Esther probably didn’t see these divine endowments in her own life until the challenges of being not a queen but a deliverer of her people and generations from the evil plan of Haman against the Jewish people.

For one who had tasted the glory and comfort of being queen of the greatest kingdom of that time, would she give these up at Uncle Mordecai’s suggestion of death to her to go and beg the king (her husband) to spare the lives of her people. Going in to see the king when no one called could cost the queen her life! Goaded by the words of her uncle, she turned to the only Saviour, the God of Israel in a step of faith in God. She called for three days of fasting and prayers for her deliverance and her people which she personally participated in. And did she not find favour in the king’s sight! Not only did the king promise half of his kingdom but he also granted her wish for the deliverance of the Jews from Haman (Esther 5:2,3). Esther entered into the reality of Matthew 16:25.

Consider beloved:

  • Is there a Mordecai in your life, who sees the potential in you and has been encouraging you to step out in faith to serve your God?
  • Are you hesitating as Esther first did? That is okay but be careful that you are not completely refusing to do the will of God. Your staying in your place of doubt and hesitation may get you replaced! (Esther 4:14). As Mordechai said, “who knows whether you are where you are today for a specific divine reason.” Stop hesitating and stop fighting that thought, have faith in God, call upon Him in prayers and if led, fast, trusting Him to lead your decisions.
  • Now, who is the Haman in your life? That Haman that you think is stronger than you are and wants to destroy you and your family members all because you refused to “bow down to his will” (Esther 3:1-4)? In your deliverance, the same God you have trusted and called upon can make the Haman fall into the pit he has dug!

What are you waiting for? This is the season to walk in overcoming faith. Shalom.
