The Peace of Christ—Colossians 3:15

The entry of Donald Trump and his first four months in office has ripped up 80 years of America’s global economic leadership. Hardly did anyone including Americans, foresee the extent of disruption triggered nation after nation. Yet the Lord made it crystal clear in John 14:26, 27.

But the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will cause you to recall (will remind you of, bring to your remembrance) everything I have told you. Peace I leave with you; My [own] peace I now give and bequeath to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. [Stop allowing yourselves to be agitated and disturbed; and do not permit yourselves to be fearful and intimidated and cowardly and unsettled.] John 14:26, 27 (AMPC)

As obvious from verse 26, you cannot separate the peace of Christ from the presence of the Holy spirit.

DO NOT let your hearts be troubled (distressed, agitated). You believe in and adhere to and trust in and rely on God; believe in and adhere to and trust in and rely also on Me…And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby), that He may remain with you forever–The Spirit of Truth, Whom the world cannot receive (welcome, take to its heart), because it does not see Him or know and recognize Him. But you know and recognize Him, for He lives with you [constantly] and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans [comfortless, desolate, bereaved, forlorn, helpless]; I will come [back] to you. John 14:1,16-18 (AMPC)

But when He, the Spirit of Truth (the Truth-giving Spirit) comes, He will guide you into all the Truth (the whole, full Truth). For He will not speak His own message [on His own authority]; but He will tell whatever He hears [from the Father; He will give the message that has been given to Him], and He will announce and declare to you the things that are to come [that will happen in the future]… I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world. [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.] John 16:13, 33 (AMPC)

The knowledge passed to us by the Holy Spirit concerning the times and event, calms our minds in the assurance that our God not only knows; but that He is in control! Our response must be dictated not by fear but by this knowledge—this is the foundation of Paul’s affirmation in Philippians 4:6-7. The uncertainties brought about by change is neutralised by prayer and supplication with gratitude unto God; not by anxiety which leads to despondency, fault-finding and murmuring against God. The Lord Jesus admonished us severally, ‘Watch and pray’ not ‘watch and fear’, neither ‘watch and worry.’

Avoid what was Israel’s weakness and undoing in the journey through the wilderness (1 Cor. 10:9-10). Always be thankful. Shalom.
