Who do you turn to first for help or solutions when faced with challenges? Are you alone, or is there a partner(s) with whom you go to the Lord as first point of call for help? How do you deal with life challenges such as the death of a loved one more so the man of the house? In the face of the confusion, the dismay, the void and numbness, the desperation to get answers; what do you do? This is the picture of the scene, at least at the Bethany end, home of Mary and Martha.
In our numbness, John 11:4 shows the Lord knew more than either Mary or Martha, a clear signal that He is the One we must turn to! He is the one whose thoughts we must seek (Isaiah 55:8-13), and except we know His thoughts, how can we be at rest? (Jeremiah 29:11).
Our prayer in the day of trouble, let me know Your thoughts, and in knowing Your thoughts, so I can utter the right words and experience the power of speaking Your words. Letting Your words be my words is the path to victory over the situation.
The Lord demonstrated that in the Lazarus story, but can we endure the wait, the seeming delay in getting answers if it is His will to let us know? Help us, Lord.
Selah.
