Showing Grace To Those That Differ With Us (Romans 14:1-13): An Act of Love In The House Of God (Fellowship)—Part 2

Continuing from our last post on dealing with others in the house of God, the second question to consider is:

Am I dealing with a young, immature believer who is just learning about the Lord? Then be mindful of:

  1. Matthew 18:1-10 (TPT)At that time the disciples came to ask Jesus, “Who is considered to be the greatest in heaven’s kingdom realm?” Jesus called a little one to his side and said to them, “Learn this well: Unless you dramatically change your way of thinking and become teachable like a little child (the young innocent and immature in the faith), you will never be able to enter in. Whoever continually humbles himself to become like this little child is the greatest one in heaven’s kingdom realm. And if you tenderly care for this little one on my behalf, you are tenderly caring for me. But if anyone abuses one of these little ones who believes in me, it would be better for him to have a heavy boulder tied around his neck and be hurled into the deepest sea than to face the punishment he deserves! (what to judge as we read in Romans 14:13 and warn against). “Misery will come to the one who lures people away into sin. Troubles and obstacles to your faith are inevitable, but great devastation will come to the one guilty of causing others to stumble! If your hand clings to sin, cut it off and throw it away. If your foot continually steps onto sin’s path, cut it off and throw it away. For it is better for you to enter into heaven crippled and maimed than to have both hands and both feet and be thrown into the eternal fire. And if your eye is always focusing on sin, pluck it out and throw it away. For it is better for you to enter into heaven with one eye than to be thrown into hell fire with two (our ultimate responsibility to one another in the house of God). “Be careful that you not corrupt one of these little ones. For I can assure you that in heaven each of their guardian angels always sees the face of my heavenly Father.

We can here relate the question in verse 1 to the Lord’s statement in Matthew 5:19b—But whoever obeys them and teaches their truths to others will be called great in heaven’s kingdom—a clear reference to the teaching responsibility we have towards the immature, NOT a judging responsibility! and

  1. Romans 5:1-2 (TPT)Our faith in Jesus transfers God’s righteousness to us and he now declares us flawless in his eyes. This means we can now enjoy true and lasting peace with God, all because of what our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One, has done for us. Our faith guarantees us permanent access into this marvelous kindness that has given us a perfect relationship with God. What incredible joy bursts forth within us as we keep on celebrating our hope of experiencing God’s glory!

As you stay in the confines and boundaries of the liberty and promises God has given us (2 Peter 1:3-11), know you are accepted in the beloved. We must give our loved ones the dignity of making their own mistakes lest we hinder God from working in their lives. They belong to Him. Yes, we may have the right theology but the wrong attitude, having strong opinions gives no right to impose them on others. Remember, love raptures the bride! Selah.
