As we close the charge that you recognise and triumph over the spirits warring against your soul, we can take a cue from David’s poetic praise in Psalm 40.
I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord. Psalm 40:1-3
Vs.1-3: These verses illustrate the patience and tenderness of a loving father lifting a self-willed child from his own mess. David affirms being lifted from the mess of the clay pit, cleansed and set upon the rock; steadied in the walk of the weary and defeated upon an ascending high place. What a manifest blessing of those who will repent, return and trust in the Lord, their mess notwithstanding.
Blessed is that man that maketh the Lord his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies. Many, O Lord my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered. Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required. Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me, I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart. I have preached righteousness in the great congregation: lo, I have not refrained my lips, O Lord, thou knowest. Psalm 40:4-9
Vs 4-9: For such, why won’t there be a daily effusion of songs? A manifest testimony of what God has done that such cannot keep silent.
All you will hear around you are the lies of the proud who think they are in control of tomorrow, what it will bring, who in their pride think they control your destiny; but the Heavenly Father knows where to hide you from their lies as you rest in Him and stop exercising yourself in matters too great for you (Psa. 131:1 (TPT).
Beloved, your guarantee of not falling away is in your refusing to heed their lies though they abound everywhere—your guarantee of not being consumed rest on listening for the Lord God, whose wonderful works continue to be seen all around you; and more He thinks of you all the time!
What then is our reasonable response to this great God? Is it burnt offerings, or sin offerings? No! Those are responses from the fallen and they do not bring our Father joy. Those come from those locked in the imperfect, while the perfect is still attainable by simply listening to what He says and obeying. No arguments! This is the path to triumph for those who have been propagators of satanic doctrines as well as those who have been trapped in their lies.
Oh, that we may listen and hear Him always, for He continues to speak. O Lord, I am Your sacrifice, Lord, cause me to be willing, I will do Your will (Hebrews 10:5-7). Selah.
