Simeon’s story in Luke 2 teaches the believer to:
- Take the word of God seriously for this is the path to righteous living
- Focus on God, the one thing that matters
- Take faith in God seriously
And here are a few questions worth a thought:
- How often do you allow the Holy Spirit to determine where you go on any given day?
- What determines the course of your day for you who is waiting to encounter the Lord?
- Would you come into His temple today and every day?
- Would you let the promises of God define the meaning of your life?
And why? Anytime we substitute positive thinking for faith in God, for guidance by His Spirit and obedience to His word, we are on dangerous ground. We must TRAIN our brains to trust God and obey the positive thoughts that are founded on His word.
A positive word based attitude towards your health, towards ageing is greater than psychological measures such as your blood pressure and cholesterol (Isaiah 46:3-4). Little wonder then that Proverbs 3:7-8; 16:24 and Isaiah 58:10-11 were written for our admonition.
Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil. It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones. Proverbs 3:7-8
Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones. Proverbs 16:24
And if thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness be as the noon day: and the Lord shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not. Isaiah 58:10-11
Do you want a healthy life,? Then have a healthy mind, train you brain to think on what God has said. Selah.
