May Our Faith Not Fail In The Day of Famine

He hath remembered his covenant for ever, the word which he commanded to a thousand generations. Which covenant he made with Abraham, and his oath unto Isaac; and confirmed the same unto Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant: saying, unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance: when they were but a few men in number; yea, very few, and strangers in it. When they went from one nation to another, from one kingdom to another people He suffered no man to do them wrong: yea, he reproved kings for their sakes; saying, touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm. Moreover he called for a famine upon the land: he brake the whole staff of bread. He sent a man before them, even Joseph, who was sold for a servant. Psalm 105:8-17

Consider the incidents of famine, one of God’s instruments of testing and judgment of nations, note verse 16 of our text. Would you look and learn how the past generations of men dealt with famine in the following examples:

There always appeared to be food in Egypt or Moab, the idolatry centers of the world, placing a choice before the believer—go to Egypt or rely upon God’s instructions before acting! Except for the case of Jacob who apparently had learnt from the mistakes of his progenitors (he didn’t relocate at the outset of the famine, until the call by Joseph), and Elijah who had clear instructions from the Lord on how he would be taken care of, moving out or “japa” was the kneejerk or logical reaction without consideration for the One who sent famine for the others.

Invariably, famine allowed by God never lasts forever because of His love and kindness towards His creation. The question is what was the end of those who followed what seemed logical? But for God’s intervention in the cases of Abram and Isaac, such movements ended up in disaster for such people, from falling out of the Lord’s inheritance or promises to loss of life and breakup of the families!

Who is among you that feareth the Lord, that obeyeth the voice of his servant, that walketh in darkness, and hath no light? let him trust in the name of the Lord, and stay upon his God. Behold, all ye that kindle a fire, that compass yourselves about with sparks: walk in the light of your fire, and in the sparks that ye have kindled. This shall ye have of mine hand; ye shall lie down in sorrow. Isaiah 50:10-11

Such times as we are witnessing, where anti-immigrant protests are gaining grounds, demand we return to intentional dependence on the faithfulness of God to His word of promise. This is not the time to fall to the natural response of the mind.

Never doubt God’s mighty power to work in you and accomplish all this. He will achieve infinitely more than your greatest request, your most unbelievable dream, and exceed your wildest imagination! He will outdo them all, for his miraculous power constantly energizes you. Ephesians 3:20 (TPT)

Are you under so much pressure that seeking God’s leading appears remote in your options, think again on this please.
