As head memory passes secular exams, so does heart memory pass the spiritual tests of life! For out of the heart proceeds the issues of life (Psa. 119:11; Matt. 15:18,19). This is the distinction that our text brings out as what each believer should earnestly pursue.
Follow closely every truth that I’ve given you. Then you will have a full, rewarding life. Hold on to loyal love and don’t let go, and be faithful to all that you’ve been taught. Let your life be shaped by integrity, with truth written upon your heart. Proverbs 3:2-3 (TPT)
Whether you call it mercy and truth or loyal love and steadfast faithfulness, these set apart head religion from heart religion; what a basis to judge ourselves with as individual believers! Are you living mercy and truth? Do loyal love and steadfast faithfulness characterise your walk with God and with your believer brother or sister in the faith?
And the key is in meditating as emphasised in Mark 4:23-25; Joshua 1:8 and James 1:21-25. Note further that the disclosure of the riddles of life come from such as have heard and understood by thought and study, not just by dreams neither by visions, except such is from God, direct communication from the Lord! (Num. 12:6-8). This higher level of direct communication is stated by the Lord in Mark 4:23-25.
If any man has ears to hear, let him be listening and let him perceive and comprehend. And He said to them, Be careful what you are hearing. The measure [of thought and study] you give [to the truth you hear] will be the measure [of virtue and knowledge] that comes back to you–and more [besides] will be given to you who hear. For to him who has will more be given; and from him who has nothing, even what he has will be taken away [by force]. Mark 4:23-25 (AMPC)
This is the time to put yourself on the weighing scale of what matters in life today. Will you? Shalom.
