Godly Conduct In The Work Place (Part 2)

by Pastor Afolabi Oladele

Don’t work hard only when your master is watching and then shirk when he isn’t looking; work hard and with gladness all the time, as though working for Christ, doing the will of God with all your hearts. Remember, the Lord will pay you for each good thing you do, whether you are slave or free.

And you slave owners must treat your slaves right, just as I have told them to treat you. Don’t keep threatening them; remember, you yourselves are slaves to Christ; you have the same Master they do, and he has no favorites. Ephesians 6:6-9 TLB

Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything you do. Try to please them all the time, not just when they are watching you. Serve them sincerely because of your reverent fear of the Lord. Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ. But if you do what is wrong, you will be paid back for the wrong you have done. For God has no favorites. Colossians 3:22-25 NLT

Masters, be just and fair to your slaves. Remember that you also have a Master—in heavenColossians 4:1 NLT

Godly conduct also covers employers too. Do you use your power to take advantage of the employee? That ought not to be so. Make room for good communication and mutual respect that breed confidence as well as trust. Above all, be mindful that there is one greater and more powerful than you, who holds you accountable for every manner of inequity and injustice meted to your employees. Psalms 12: 4, 5 and James 5:4-6 speak.

The Lord shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things: Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our own: who is lord over us? For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the Lord; I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him. Psalm 12:3-5

Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth. Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; ye have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter. Ye have condemned and killed the just; and he doth not resist you. James 5:4-6

Do that which is right by the Lord and you will see Him bless your endeavours.
