Gates, Trees and Houses, Who Will Be In Heaven? (Part 4)

Recognising that every believer has a decision to make regarding which gate to enter and what road to follow, how does one get direction with certainty of correctness of choice and without doubt? One of the old Scripture Union songs goes thus ‘My Lord knows the way through the wilderness, all I have to do is to follow. My Lord knows the way through the wilderness, all I have to do is to follow. Follow, follow, I will follow Jesus everywhere, anywhere, I will follow Him…

Our text speaks thus (we take the TPT version, but look at KJV and AMPC translations too to savour the truth being communicated)—

How good you are to me! When people turn to you, Yahweh, they discover how easy you are to please—so faithful and true! Joyfully you teach them the proper path, even when they go astray.  Keep showing the humble your path, and lead them into the best decision. Bring revelation-light that trains them in the truth.Psalm 25:8-9 (TPT)

We note the following:

  1. The soundness of the character of the one we go to for guidance. He is not waiting to see us fail and punish us (vs.8)
  2. His delight to teach us the way to go and restore even when we stray, Psalms 32:8,9Isaiah 50:4-9Hebrews 7:25 and Hebrews 8:10-11; and
  3. The only precondition is our meekness or humility,

So, in seeking His direction:

  1. a clean heart, a clear and submitted mind,
  2. without a preconceived outcome regarding the guidance you came to seek,
  3. quiet enough to listen and hear Him undistracted, and
  4. readiness to accept and follow what He says.

His promises will lift us above doubts to a place of quiet rest, as we persist in prayers based on these promises. Selah
