Gates, Trees and Houses (Part 6): The Good Shepherd Knows All Things

The Good Shepherd’s attribute of knowing all things ahead of them happening He declared severally in the Old Testament and manifested similarly in the New Testament. Please see a few of the references in the Old Testament (please study in AMPC, TLV and NLT translations).

  1. Isaiah 40:12-18, 21-34
  2. Isaiah 41:21-28
  3. Isaiah 43:9-13
  4. Isaiah 44:6-8
  5. Isaiah 45:5-8, 11-12, 21-22
  6. Isaiah 46:5, 9-11
  7. Isaiah 48:3, 5, 12-14, 16

The idols that men elevate as gods cannot do this, rather they condition the minds of hapless followers to their own evil plans, predictive programming in this generation!

In His days as the Son of Man in human flesh, He demonstrated the same without repeating words:

  • In the calling of Nathanael in John 1:43-51 where He brought into view the testimony of the Old Testament patriarch, Jacob
  • He spoke about His own death and resurrection while they did not yet understand (Matthew 16: 13-23Luke 18: 29-34),
  • In sending them on an errand to lose the colt He would ride to Jerusalem (Luke 19:28-34), and
  • When He spoke to them about Heaven in John 14:1-4, He was telling all that believe what He knew to be true. In this text, He demonstrated the same attribute of being all-knowing to the INDIVIDUAL level—Peter interjected, “But, Master, where are you going?” Jesus replied, “Where I am going you won’t be able to follow, but one day you will follow me there.” Peter said, “What do you mean I’m not able to follow you now? I would sacrifice my life to die for you!” Jesus answered, “Would you really lay down your life for me, Peter? Here’s the absolute truth: Before the rooster crows in the morning, you will say three times that you don’t even know me!” John 13:36-38 (TPT)

Will you trust Him now, enough to follow Him where ever He leads. In times like these we need such guidance that will lead us to the promised end, a place in Heaven, not on this earth! Shalom.
