Don’t Get Tired

I drew this message from several issues I had to deal with some years ago. I was so confused about my life, that I began to question my calling.  So I had to take some time out of the country, for a deliberate shutdown. I was like Jeremiah at that time, who said “God, You have deceived me”.

Jeremiah, whom God had empowered to go out and uproot, pull down and destroy things, went out and was beaten mercilessly. So there was no correlation to be seen between what God said and the discouragement he faced. Generally if you are born again, and you’ve never had a time of discouragement that made you wonder if you were really called of God, you were not called.

Do you know that God knows that we go through such things? Yet He is saying, “don’t get tired.” This year, for some people, has been challenging and tough. For some others, things that they never thought could happen to them, have happened.

Some things happened to your loved ones even after you prayed that they should not (after God showed you would happen to them), these things can weary you, but don’t be tired! The devil really knows how to plan these things and wire them together until you get to the point that even when you think you are strong, you are not. Because every strength you have, has been nibbled away from you. The areas you used to look to for strength have gone, suddenly the devil tells you that you are alone.

Several Christians are going through financial frustrations, delay in childbearing, pains of betrayals, excruciating health challenges, prolonged family troubles, joblessness, business failure etc. But in all these things, you should not be moved, your convictions should remain unchanged, your faith unshaken, and you remain adamant as a flint.

Remember, God knows your address, your location, your height. He has the hairs on your head numbered and He knows the state of your heart. He is saying to you this moment, “Don’t be tired!” Whatever situation you find yourself in, God is too faithful to fail.

I said something some years ago and still stand by it, that I believe that every trial or temptation that comes to you, is an indication of a lack of something in your life. You could be lacking in faith, in walking in holiness and obedience or in some expectation that the Lord has for you. There are people that will give you different explanations for why you are going through what you are going through, but the next time such people come to you, tell them to mind their own business.

Some of the things you must learn when you are going through trails are:

1.  Be ready for cruel mocking.

2.  Learn to tell people to mind their own business

I want to let you know that God does not cause your discouragement. Anytime you are discouraged, it is not from God and you don’t have to fall for Satan’s discouragement.

And it came to pass, when David and his men were come to Ziklag on the third day, that the Amalekites had invaded the south, and Ziklag, and smitten Ziklag, and burned it with fire; And had taken the women captives, that were therein: they slew not any, either great or small, but carried them away, and went on their way. So David and his men came to the city, and, behold, it was burned with fire; and their wives, and their sons, and their daughters, were taken captives. Then David and the people that were with him lifted up their voice and wept, until they had no more power to weep. And David’s two wives were taken captives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the wife of Nabal the Carmelite. And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God. And David said to Abiathar the priest, Ahimelech’s son, I pray thee, bring me hither the ephod. And Abiathar brought thither the ephod to David. And David enquired at the LORD, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all.  1 Samuel 30:1-8

There are some people who go about attacking weak people with behind-the-back communications, such people are Amelekites, and God will sort them out soon. Such people add more to your pains when they ought to encourage you; they turn every situation to an opportunity to put you down, but don’t get tired. You must be strong, don’t let anything kill your dream. Has God given you a dream? Pursue it, don’t give up, don’t be tired.  The Bible says David and his men wept till they had no more strength to weep. I tell you, it is natural to get to times of almost giving up, but what did David do? David encouraged himself in the Lord and went forth to pursue, overtake and recover all.  You will recover all but you’ve got to encourage yourself in the Lord.

But the children of Israel committed a trespass in the accursed thing: for Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took of the accursed thing: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against the children of Israel. And Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is beside Bethaven, on the east side of Bethel, and spake unto them, saying, Go up and view the country. And the men went up and viewed Ai. And they returned to Joshua, and said unto him, Let not all the people go up; but let about two or three thousand men go up and smite Ai; and make not all the people to labour thither; for they are but few. So there went up thither of the people about three thousand men: and they fled before the men of Ai. And the men of Ai smote of them about thirty and six men: for they chased them from before the gate even unto Shebarim, and smote them in the going down: wherefore the hearts of the people melted, and became as water. And Joshua rent his clothes, and fell to the earth upon his face before the ark of the LORD until the eventide, he and the elders of Israel, and put dust upon their heads. And Joshua said, Alas, O Lord GOD, wherefore hast thou at all brought this people over Jordan, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us? would to God we had been content, and dwelt on the other side Jordan! Joshua 7:1-7.

You need to understand that there is a difference between a boundary and a barrier. A boundary is where God places limits, where He says stop! A barrier is where Satan puts a hindrance.  Boundaries are set by God, barriers are set by Satan. David and Joshua got tired when they were faced with barriers, but when they sought the Lord, they received a new commandment, “Go forward!”

That financial problem you’ve been facing, you have to overcome it, and you will begin your victory with your positive confessions.  Pull down every barrier. As long as you know the difference between a barrier and a boundary. Don’t give up! God does not love those who give up. Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. Galatians 6:7

We all have responsibilities in the kingdom, and if you faint and give up, you are in delusion.  That means that if you were coming to church regularly and you stop; if you were giving to the work of God and you stop; if you were helping people and you stop; if you were joyous before and you stop being joyous; you are in delusion. There are times when all that you give in the kingdom is your smile, and it is ministers to people. You don’t have to hold a microphone to minister to people.  To say that Christians would not suffer on this earth because Jesus already suffered, is a doctrine from hell. The Bible says that through sufferings and tribulations we shall make the kingdom (Acts 14:22).

The disciples had been with Jesus and anticipated a long-term regime with Him.  Though He always talked about His death and mission on earth, it was all but a fluke to them. But on the night in Gethsamane, Jesus handed Himself over to His killers, shattering the “dreams” of His disciples, especially Peter. With no Master Jesus in place, Peter forgot the commission given him by His master and went back to his fishing career. Other disciples also when with him (John 21:1-3). They were all deluded. How you know they were all deluded is that even those who were not fishermen, all went to fish. Delusion had set in and they stopped what they were supposed to be doing, and began to fish. Despite spending all night fishing, they caught nothing, until Jesus came. Jesus already prepared breakfast for them on the shore. Every time you encourage yourself in the Lord, breakfast is ready.
