We sing the song, “my Lord knows the way through the wilderness, all I have to do is to follow.” We hardly realise the depth of its communication until we see the Septuagint rendition of Psalm 107:4-7.
They wandered in the wilderness in a dry land, they found no way to a city of habitation. Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them. Then they cried to the Lord in their affliction, and he delivered them out of their distresses. And he guided them into a straight path, that they might go to a city of habitation. Psalm 107:4-7 (LXX)
They wanted to find the way, and searched for what they sensed existed, yet they found no way. What anguish, what frustration and feeling of entrapment…add to that the hunger and thirst…what were they left with than to look up and cry to God for help. Does this describe you, your situation? There is hope if you take the right step! Then you will break out in the joy of appreciation…He is enough for me. Oluwatosin.
Note verses 8-14.
Let them acknowledge to the Lord his mercies, and his wonderful works to the children of men. For he satisfies the empty soul, and fills the hungry soul with good things, even them that sit in darkness and the shadow of death, fettered in poverty and iron; because they rebelled against the words of God, and provoked the counsel of the Most High. So, their heart was brought low with troubles; they were weak, and there was no helper. Then, they cried to the Lord in their affliction, and he saved them out of their distresses. And he brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and broke their bonds asunder. Psalm 107:8-14 (LXX)
Verse 10 underlined above was prophetic of what Jesus came and accomplished in every man who will turn to Him in their lostness (Matthew 4:15; Isaiah 8:19-22; Isaiah 9:1-2) and it shall come to pass that your answer will be as the testimony of David in Psalm 119:143,150-151.
Afflictions and distresses found me: but thy commandments were my meditation…They have drawn nigh who persecuted me unlawfully; and they are far removed from thy law. Thou art near, O Lord; and all thy ways are truth. Psalm 119:143,150-151 (LXX)
So dearly beloved, know indeed that in the Lord our God, in His word you have all you need, and in nothing be terrified (Philippians 1:28) as you walk in absolute surrender to His will. This is His invitation to you to be restored from your listless life. Will you accept His offer and turn to Him now? A simple heart provoked prayer of surrender and invitation of this great God to come into your heart and be your Lord is all you need say now. Will you? Shalom.
