If indeed we are sons we should expect as it is written of Christ (Luke 24:27), that all that is written concerning us shall be fulfilled. Taking just a snippet from:
- Psalm 22:16-22 and comparing with the records of John 19:15-25 and Luke 23:32-40
- Isaiah 53:7-11 and comparing with Matthew 27:11-14, the elders/scribes vs 20-25; the soldiers vs 24-31,33; the crowd vs 39-44)
We see clearly the veracity of the Lord’s claim. The two questions that as believers we need to ask are:
- What has been written concerning me particularly (closed)—Psalm 139:15,16 (NLT), and
- What has been written concerning me generally (open)—Romans 8:29
That is the essence of purpose defined for every believer. If you do answer these questions in the affirmative, then there is no doubt that He will fulfil all that is written concerning you. In the words of Andy Johnson in His book Should I Be A Missionary, he surmised, ‘love for God’s glory and confidence in His plan …is the best fuel that drives our lives whether for missions or whatever He calls us to (emphasis mine). This leads me to the next question; do you know His plans for these times?
Departed evangelist Neal Frisby put it this way
“The spiritual impact of this prophetic book (or of prophecy) will inspire the reader to respond to a compelling motivation to endeavour to:
- attain the goal of the overcomer, and
- lift one to the realms of faith never known before as a profound understanding of the significance of the times and seasons we now live in will be obtained’
- One will be possessed of a far greater knowledge of the divine plans and purposes of God as supreme crisis of the age deepens. And doubt and confusion will be replaced by confidence. A sense of expectancy (of the nearness of the Lord’s coming) will take hold, and
- A desire to accomplish all that the Lord has written concerning one becomes priority of life
Is this true of you, or are you so engrossed in the mundane that you are no better than an earth-dweller? (1 Cor. 7:31 (TPT). Selah
