Another Tsunami? Nay, The Real Tsunami

(preached in 2005)

What we saw on Dec. 26th 2004 is actually a foreshadow of the real tsunami that is to come. Adjectives such as – simple, progressive, ever-widening circles, obscure, insignificant, receding and shallow used to describe a tsunami make one think that a tsunami is a little thing. But just like the snail that won the race against a man there’s a force behind the tsunami that makes it suddenly become a huge wall of water that destroys.

The tsunami is a phenomenon just like the prophecy concerning the coming of the Lord.

Matt. 24: 4 and Jesus answered and said unto them, take heed that no man deceive you.

The warning Jesus gave with regards to His coming is that we should not be deceived and deception is the only reason why a child of God will miss the Rapture. Many of us are setting dates for the coming of the Lord by watching events around us such as tsunamis, rumours of war, this will only make us run fast when these things happen and then get tired of running and Jesus still has not come at the dates we set. If we fall into this trap we will be too tired to keep running by the time Jesus is coming. In 1 Peter 3 some people got offended because Jesus still had not come at the time they expected.

I Tim. 4: 1-3, 2 Peter 3 When you get offended with God anything anti-God prospers and you follow after it. It is when people get offended and depart from the faith that seducing spirits get them.

Matt. 24:11 and many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

Luke 17: 1-2 then said He unto the disciples, it is impossible but that offenses will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come………

False prophets will prosper because people are already offended. The antichrist will get people easily because he will give them “peace” which is what they have been crying to God for and God didn’t give them peace. The Greek word translated “offence” in Luke 17 means” trap-stick”.

Today we see have banks bombarding the society with shares for sale and this is just like how people rush to the shore picking up fish and other attractive things when the waves recede during the first phase of tsunami, not knowing that there is danger ahead. This share-sale rush is similar to what happened in the 1920s during the Great Depression. Men committed suicide when the stock market crashed. Many Nigerians will commit suicide when the shares they bought fall because they have put their trust in their money.

The crash in the 1920s made way for the dictator Adolf Hitler who promised to improve things but was just a type of the antichrist. The antichrist will control world economy because only then will he be able to control the people of the world. Where are you putting your treasure?

Matt. 6: 21 for where you treasure is, there will your heart be also.

President James Garfield, American President said “he who controls the money of a nation controls the nation.”

With the way the economy is now, the only way a man can survive is by investing in God’s kingdom because there is no inflation or stock market crash in God’s kingdom. This message is beyond buying shares or the stock exchange; let us be wise and stop investing our “money” in all kinds of “shares.”

When we pray we should ask God for the things we need and not money for those things lest we make money our god; let your confidence be in God and not money. The Bible has only one record of Jesus spending money (when He paid taxes) yet allHis needs were met.

Out of all this –inflation and an attempt to curb inflation – will arise a new world order. All these things are happening and preparing people to accept the antichrist and his system and people are not taking note to them (just like beginning of a tsunami – the earthquake happens under water and no one notices it until the tsunami comes to the shore to wreck havoc).

Jesus is asking for every one of us to be delivered form this world system, be prepared and ready at His coming and not be left behind like the foolish virgins who were left behind because they could not foresee what was happening and get themselves ready.

1 John 2: 15-17 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
