Abundant Life (Part 3)

The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. John 10:10 NKJV

Let’s take God for who He is and His word for whose word it is. In the event of His resurrection described in Matthew 28:1-10, 16-18, when the disciples saw the reality of and beheld the risen Lord, their awe turned into worship-verses 8 and 9.

No, dear friend, child of God, the Lord Jesus Christ is neither your mate nor your equal. Do not despise Him because He humbled himself, taking on flesh so He can feel our infirmities. He is to be exalted, and worship Him for He is God, the only true God.

See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know him. Dear friends, we are already God’s children, but he has not yet shown us what we will be like when Christ appears. But we do know that we will be like him, for we will see him as he really is. And all who have this eager expectation will keep themselves pure, just as he is pure. 1 John 3:1-3 NLT

But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world. Those people belong to this world, so they speak from the world’s viewpoint, and the world listens to them. But we belong to God, and those who know God listen to us. If they do not belong to God, they do not listen to us. That is how we know if someone has the Spirit of truth or the spirit of deception. 1 John 4:4-6 NLT

Contrast 1 John 3:1-3 with 1 John 4:4-6 both in the New Living Translation and The Living Bible versions. Where are you? Thinks on these things.
