How many ‘believers’ church goers truly know the God who revealed himself in Christ Jesus? Not knowing Him as He reveals Himself in the scriptures, many have fallen prey to deceiving leaders, who sell them what they want to hear!
Prayer for the man God uses is vain, ignorant and empty of purpose if it is devoid of knowing and wanting to do what He told you to do. Prayer is all about empowerment to execute accurately and to His pleasure what He wants you to do!
God is the one who calls the man He wants to use, there is no self-appointment (probably the most fundamental of the many reasons many fail or make a shipwreck of so-called ministry).
The day the Lord revealed Himself to them as the resurrected Lord, eventually became the day disciples gathered together to remember the Lord in the taking of the sacraments.
Moses and the prophets were helpful, but in the end, there is only Jesus. Science and education can be helpful, but in the end, there is only Jesus. Medicine can be helpful, but in the end, there is only Jesus. Jesus alone! That needs to be the focus of our proclamation.
There is a time for action, but there is also a time for prayer—for studying the scriptures—for listening—for reflection—for meditation. Our actions are more likely to obtain the desired results if we first take time to pray, to read, to listen, to reflect, and to meditate.
The world and sadly Christendom chose a pagan festival after the fashion of Aaronic syncretism to commemorate the death and resurrection of Christ. Even more sad is the inability of Christendom to learn from the life of Judas Iscariot who was numbered among the twelve disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, yet never knew Him!
We must cling in faith to all we know to be true. For we have a magnificent King-Priest, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who rose into the heavenly realm for us, and now sympathizes with us in our frailty
In the state we find ourselves in the country, we can also be tempted to stop trusting in the Lord and taking things into our hands.
