The Potency of His Word — Isaiah 55:10-11 (AMPC)

For as the rain and snow come down from the heavens, and return not there again, but water the earth and make it bring forth and sprout, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall My word be that goes forth out of My mouth: it shall not return to Me void [without producing any effect, useless], but it shall accomplish that which I please and purpose, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it. Isaiah 55:10-11 AMPC

Our text in Isaiah 55:10-11 speaks to the potency and result oriented effect of the words of our God.

The effect of hiding the oracles of God in my heart, spoken to in Psalm 119:9-11, 89 (LXX)

Wherewith shall a young man direct his way? by keeping thy words. With my whole heart have I diligently sought thee: cast me not away from thy commandments. I have hidden thine oracles in my heart, that I might not sin against thee…. Thy word, O Lord, abides in heaven for ever. Psalm 119:9-11, 89 (LXX)

is the transfer of the same potency to every believer who speaks His (God’s) words to every situation! God has respect to His word, which is yea and amen. This attribute is loudly espoused to Joshua in Joshua 1:8, to:

  1. know the oracles,
  2. confess them,
  3. meditate upon them with the sole intent of doing them.

It is the pathway to good success! and you will be wise. It is through meditation and memorization that we hide the word in our hearts. Meditation involves taking time to reflect.

In the face of unabated avalanche of challenges, the most important question to ask myself, what does God say about it in His word, for two reasons

  1. Psalm 119:89 – it is His words that abides in heaven and accomplishes that which He wills in whatsoever or whosoever it is sent!
  2. Isaiah 40:8 – His word is His will

If you grasp this truth, then every child of God must have reservations about their ability so they can fully depend on and speak based on God’s provided ability. From Moses, to Jeremiah, to Jesus, to Paul, they each ran to God with the determination to do whatever His word says. So, no rushing or hastening based on your intellectual capacity but let God direct you in its use (Jeremiah 1:9,12). Remember, only that which is divinely established lasts forever. Selah.
