Nigeria – Our Social Order

by Pastor Afolabi Oladele

Now once we allow the Lord Jesus to put His hand upon our hearts, with a readiness and commitment to follow His leading, let’s look at the environment or social order around us and note as follows:
The social order we see is not entirely the product of us who are living now

It is made up of the cumulative attitudes and customs passed from generation to generation; and may only be slightly modified by current individuals.
Realizing this, my reasonable assessment is whether or not this social order helps or hinders life.

Does it provide a good environment to which a Christian can respond?
Does it feed or poison us?
If it feeds, then it must be preserved at all costs.
If it poisons us, then we work to convert it – from poison to food. And if it cannot be converted, it must be replaced.

Live we must, but live victoriously.
————–

Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.
1 Corinthians 15:33 KJV

Then began he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not: Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.
Matthew 11:20‭-‬21 KJV

Nigeria

by Pastor Afolabi Oladele

How to solve the riddle or the mess called Nigeria is the earnest desire upon every thinking Nigeria.

Let’s reflect upon Covey’s words, “that personal victory precedes public victory.”

Have you considered how futile it is for a man suffering from high fever tossing in his bed thinking that finding a cool patch of the bed will relieve him? The high fever cannot abate until the germs within have been destroyed. So must it be for every Nigerian to first deal with the self-worship within before we can genuine seek change on the outside!

To the same point, in Matthew 23:25, Jesus said ‘woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self indulgence.’

Each of us needs to be freed from the inner cancer of sin, and self worship if we are to impact or change the external! This is food for thought for the week. Shalom.

Mama’s Day

I believe that if we can attempt to figure out God in His capacity as the El-Shaddai, the all-breasted One, then we may have an inkling of what mothers are. A mother is a model of God’s love.

Our Focus In Seeking God

by Pastor Afolabi Oladele

Two things should be the focus of our seeking the Lord: to know the heart of God in Christ and then know my own heart in the light of Christ. Why? Because the heart of man is desperately wicked.

Only in knowing God’s heart at all times can I incline/discipline/align my heart to what He wants.

Psalms 26:2; Psalms 27:8; Psalms 40:8,10; Psalms 66:18 and Psalms 86:11 reveal the possibilities for every heart.

What will you be seeking?

——–
Examine me, O Lord , and prove me; try my reins and my heart.
Psalms 26:2 KJV

—-
When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, Lord , will I seek.
Psalms 27:8 KJV
—-

I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart. I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation: I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great congregation.
Psalms 40:8‭, ‬10 KJV
—-

If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:
Psalms 66:18 KJV
—-
Teach me thy way, O Lord ; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name.
Psalms 86:11 KJV

Seeking The Lord

by Pastor Afolabi Oladele

May our seeking of the Lord our God not be for mere facts about Him, rather more for His heart concerning us (not for benefit but for revelation of purpose), concerning those around us and to whom He sent us.

As a son and as His servant we remain useless to Him except we know this; but armed with the knowledge of His heart, we respond accurately and appropriately to each situation we are confronted by.

Matthew 8:2-3,5-7; Matthew 11:28; Mark 8:2-3 to show a few examples.

May we be effective principal agents in His hands.

Good morning.
—-
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Matthew 11:28 KJV
——
And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him, And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented. And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him.
Matthew 8:2‭-‬3‭, ‬5‭-‬7 KJV
——-
I have compassion on the multitude, because they have now been with me three days, and have nothing to eat: And if I send them away fasting to their own houses, they will faint by the way: for divers of them came from far.
Mark 8:2‭-‬3 KJV

The Glory In His Name

In John 17:6 Jesus said, I have manifested Thy name. To manifest means something that is hidden is now revealed for all to see. Why? Because there is more to the name JESUS than meets the eyes.

His Woven Seamless Coat

By Pastor David Nkenchor – 29 April 2018

Bible Reading: John 19:1-24. (Matt.27:35; Luke 23:34)

The High Priest garment similitude – Ex. 39:1-… (22-24)
Significance of High Priest / seamless garment = PERFECT.
Implying,- No patch, No adjustment, Not fitted, Not joined together –

1 Cor. 5:6, Gal.5:9 “A little leaven …”,
I Jn. 2:15-17”Love not … world …
Matt. 6:24 “Ye cannot … mammon”
– PERFECT High Priest
– PERFECT Righteousness of the Lord which He has bequeathed unto us – Rom. 5:1; 8:1-2 (The Msg.)
– PERFECT PROTOTYPE, Sinless life in the body – Heb. 10:5, Jn. 1:14, Rom. 8:3; 1 Jn. 5:18; Rom. 8:29 “firstborn among…brethren”

Mk. 15:34, 37, Luke 14:25 – Israel observed the Passover at the 3rd hour (morning sacrifice / oblation) and 9th hour (evening sacrifice / oblation – time for slaying the Passover lamb) so Jesus our Lord Jesus Christ hung and gave up the ghost consecutively. Perfectly replacing the old priesthood with the eternal priesthood.

Ex. 28:2, Lev. 21:10-12b – Shortly after, Caiphas the High Priest tore his garment (perfect righteousness), temple veil rented in twain Mk. 15:38), confirming the end the old and confirming the establishment of the new, living and eternal priesthood. – Heb. 10:20-22 – While Caipas’ was torn, Jesus’ was preserved
Dt.19:15; Mt. 18:16; 2Cor. 13:1 “In the mouth of … established”

WHY TEAR / DIVIDE HIS OUTER GARMENT BY SINNERS?
– Our (self) out-borne righteousness remains as FILTHY RAGS and MUST be done away with by the instrumentality of worldly trials/temptations – Is. 64:6
– Except our righteousness exceeds … Pharisees” – Mt. 5:20,
Heb.13:10-11 “we have an altar…tabernacle”

WHY ALLOW THE VILEST OFFENDERS (Soldiers) GO AWAY WITH HIS SEAMLESS COAT?
-That the scriptures might be fulfilled –Psa. 22:1-18 (16-18)
– As the prodigal son (Lk. 15) He demonstrates His love by keeping our garment in expectation of our home coming
– As Gentile dogs (Mt. 15:23-28):
1. He left an indelible witness of our salvation in our hands. Jn 1:12-14, and
2. He ultimately made THE PROVISION for our salvation
Rom. 5:6-8 “while yet sinners…”,
Mt.18, Lk. 19:10 “for the son of man is come…lost”

WHY WAS HIS SEAMLESS GARMENT CLOSEST TO HIS SKIN?
Col. 3:23-24, “and whatsoever…”
Mt. 6:4,16,18b”secret works, open reward”
While our thought, intents and inward contemplation/transformation might not be seen by the public, God sees, weighs and rewards.Heb. 4:12, ISam.2:3b.
What will MY ULTIMATE reward be?
Our seamless garment (righteous works in this earthly tabernacle) e.g. faith, holiness, forgiveness, good works, et.c, enviable as they are while serving as THE HIGHEST WITNESS to the world MUST give way as we adopt / get transformed and translated into our incorrupted and immortal heavenly home call. 1Cor. 15:51-54.
LET US THINK ON THESE THINGS AND REJOICE IN THE HOPE OF OUR SALVATION.
Shalom
