Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:27
And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen. Romans 16:20
Daily news reports, whether local or international reveal a world in tumult. Consider the agitations in Myanmar, the domestic and international conflagration within Israel and the Palestinians, and the warnings of the planned invasion of coastal West African sub-region by ISWA/Boko Haram/Fulani herdsmen, we see the picture of a world groaning for release and peace. Imageries of unprecedented internal conflicts in the biggest democracy of the world, USA, the aggression of evil Putin-led Russia seeking to make vassal states of its East European neighbours and the economic baiting of poorer countries by Xi Jinping-led China leave us in no doubt that it’s only a matter of time before the worldwide collapse will trigger the coming of the man of sin! With the whole world still staggering from the damage inflicted by COVID-19 pandemic, where does a man find refuge amidst such fear, confusion, pain and grief?
Indeed, because our Lord know what was ahead, our texts of today declare that the child of God, the true believer, has been left with peace (John 14:27). He affirmatively stated that He has given us His peace, different from the peace world gives. Paul expands that further, that this same God of peace will shortly bruise, or crush the head of Satan under your, believer son of God, feet! Have you accepted and taken in this gift of peace? Something could have been left you and you take no notice of it, talk less of actively accepting it! Have you accepted the peace Christ gave you? If you have, then confidently place your specific issues before Him and that peace you received will keep your hearts and mind through Him who announced the peace. Selah.
