A Word For The Wise! Are You Wise?

by Pastor Afolabi Oladele

In the going controversy of our times let’s be mindful of Daniel 7:25.

And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time (Daniel 7:25)

Yes, that scripture may fully belong to the times of Daniel’s 70th week, Nebuchadnezzar was instigated to enact and change laws deliberately to entrap the Hebrew children before the time of fulfilment of that scripture! This is a living fact that does not in any way negate the very clear instructions to every believer, laity or clergy, in Romans 13:1-7.

Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil. Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake. For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God’s ministers, attending continually upon this very thing. Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour (Romans 13:1-7).

Where the rulership of the nation turns to being a minister of evil as was the case in the days of the Daniel and the three Hebrew children, they resisted but were consciously prepared for the consequences. In resisting the law in these times be prepared for the consequences, but be careful lest you fall prey as Abel did to the treachery of Cain as recorded in Genesis 4:8 (Clarkes & Matthew Henry’s Full commentaries). You may decidedly be right in your argument, but Satan is deliberately drawing you out to a decidedly evil ruler. Are you wise enough to discern?
