Paul in his letter to the Philippians, outlined life-defining principles rearranged as follows:
For to me, living means living for Christ…Above all, you must live as citizens of heaven, conducting yourselves in a manner worthy of the Good News about Christ. Philippians 1:21, 27a (NLT)
For I want you to understand what really matters, so that you may live pure and blameless lives until the day of Christ’s return. May you always be filled with the fruit of your salvation—the righteous character produced in your life by Jesus Christ. Philippians 1:10-11 (NLT)
From the above are the following questions for self-examination:
- Are you living for Christ?
- ls God truly the centre, source and priority of your life?
- Where is your confidence or first port of call in the face of the storms of life?
- How do you characterise living? Do you make a separation, secular life or spiritual life? There is no such thing for one that is of God.
You are a son of God, the old life — worldly, secular or call it what is gone (2 Cor. 5:17), no more of the dust but of the spirit (Gal 2:20 (TPT), the Anointed One lives the life through you, and you live as a citizen of heaven, the eternal habitation of the children of God.
You are light, you are salt and these define your interaction with the world around you; in the realisation of John 17:11,12 (where your total dependence must be). John 17:15 declares that you are here as a commissioned representative of Christ but separated in conduct and the way you interact with the world. The translation of this is the basis of Psalm 62.Where is your source: of defense, of provision, of justice?
Oh Lord, this is the time of re-evaluation or self-assessment.O Lord the time has come that we must transform head knowledge to real living (Proverbs 23:17-23, Psalm 119:9-24 (LXX).O Lord, please deliver me from the wrong notions that have characterised my life. Selah
