We consider a number of scriptures that we all need to be mindful of to break the most haranguing mindset of empire spirituality. Luke 12:21, 33-34 (AMPC) speaks thus—
So it is with the one who continues to lay up and hoard possessions for himself and is not rich [in his relation] to God [this is how he fares]… Sell what you possess and give donations to the poor; provide yourselves with purses and handbags that do not grow old, an unfailing and inexhaustible treasure in the heavens, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
And compare this with Matthew 6:19-21 (AMPC)—
Do not gather and heap up and store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust and worm consume and destroy, and where thieves break through and steal. But gather and heap up and store for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust nor worm consume and destroy, and where thieves do not break through and steal; For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
These two declarations of the Lord Jesus Christ bring us clear understanding of how to operate in His kingdom principles while here on earth and what we need to do to confidently draw upon the revelation given to Isaiah as we expounded in the last posting!
Both scriptures end up on where your heart is! Beloved, truly where has your heart been, since January 2023 when the cash crunch started and a confused government has been struggling to sort out the woes it inflicted on the people? What have you been able to do against the four-fold consequences of:
i. inflation,
ii. theft (rip-offs called business),
iii. anxiety, and
iv. the misplaced confidence in God’s principal competitor when it comes to trust and security, mammon?
It is only what you’ve kept in God’s kingdom’s bank that is protected and you can freely draw from! Let’s close this with Hebrews 13:5 (AMPC)—
Let your character or moral disposition be free from love of money [including greed, avarice, lust, and craving for earthly possessions] and be satisfied with your present [circumstances and with what you have]; for He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!]
Don’t be obsessed with money but live content with what you have, for you always have God’s presence. For hasn’t he promised you, “I will never leave you, never! And I will not loosen my grip on your life!” Hebrews 13:5 (TPT)
May the peace of our God, Jesus Christ guard your hearts and minds in this season. Shalom.
