Our way to Heaven of necessity passes through the wilderness of this world. Just as those going to the Promised Land passed through the wilderness, so must we experience hunger and thirst as they did, but we look to and anticipate God’s kindness in provision and protection! Consider the following scriptures of prophecy spoken by Isaiah:
When the poor and needy search for water and there is none, and their tongues are parched from thirst, then I, the LORD, will answer them. I, the God of Israel, will never abandon them. I will open up rivers for them on the high plateaus. I will give them fountains of water in the valleys. I will fill the desert with pools of water. Rivers fed by springs will flow across the parched ground. Isaiah 41:17-18 NLT
For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland. Isaiah 43:19 NLT
So, the soul of the man that is in want and is weary from thirst ought not to see satisfaction from:
- The World but from the promised rivers of grace, or
- Yet from the past acts or experiences that have been so ingrained in us that we fail to see the miraculous gift of God! (John 4:10)
We need the upgrade in our response to the issues of our times. Will you go through this?
