The Lit Candle (Part 3)

“Your lives light up the world. For how can you hide a city that stands on a hilltop? And who would light a lamp and then hide it in an obscure place? Instead, it’s placed where everyone in the house can benefit from its light. So don’t hide your light! Let it shine brightly before others, so that your commendable works will shine as light upon them, and then they will give their praise to your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16 TPT

He also gave them this parable: No one lights a lamp only to place it under a basket or under the bed. It is meant to be placed on a lampstand. Mark 4:21 TPT

Are you as a believer disseminating the light, constantly sacrificing this life on the altar of bringing the light of Christ to all? Are you conscious of the reality that the burning time for the candle is finite, that soon there will be no more time for you? What will you say you have done with your days as one redeemed by the Lord and shown the light? No wonder Moses’ prayer recorded in Psalm 90, and specifically verse 12 says:

Help us to remember that our days are numbered,
and help us to interpret our lives correctly.
Set your wisdom deeply in our hearts
so that we may accept your correction. Psalm 90:12 TPT

The time of the candle in these times does not fit the mode of Ecclesiastes 12:1-8, as we see in the present harvest of the Grim Reaper! Both the believing and the unbelieving alike are falling prey to ‘untimely’ death! Is there such a thing as untimely for the believing, knowing the reality of 1 Corinthians 15:54-56!

And when that which is mortal puts on immortality, and what now decays is exchanged for what will never decay, then the Scripture will be fulfilled that says:
Death is swallowed up by a triumphant victory!
So death, tell me, where is your victory?
Tell me death, where is your sting?
It is sin that gives death its sting and the law that gives sin its power
. 1 Corinthians 15:54-56 TPT

What should loom larger for each of us, is the judgment seat of Christ as described by Paul in 1 Corinthians 3:10-15.

God has given me unique gifts as a skilled master builder who lays a good foundation. Afterward another craftsman comes and builds on it. So builders beware! Let every builder do his work carefully, according to God’s standards. For no one is empowered to lay an alternative foundation other than the good foundation that exists, which is Jesus Christ!

The quality of materials used by anyone building on this foundation will soon be made apparent, whether it has been built with gold, silver, and costly stones, or wood, hay, and straw. Their work will soon become evident, for the Day will make it clear, because it will be revealed by blazing fire! And the fire will test and prove the workmanship of each builder. If his work stands the test of fire, he will be rewarded. If his work is consumed by the fire, he will suffer great loss. Yet he himself will barely escape destruction, like one being rescued out of a burning house.
1 Corinthians 3:10-15 TPT

Beloved, are you building according to plan that you were called to implement on the day you were redeemed?

We have become his poetry, a re-created people that will fulfill the destiny he has given each of us, for we are joined to Jesus, the Anointed One. Even before we were born, God planned in advance our destiny and the good works we would do to fulfill it! Ephesian 2:10 TPT
