Hebrews 11 is a reference chapter for all New Testament preachers of faith. Until one stands in the inspired place with the writer, the full import of what is being communicated can be lost. Stand back and take a fresh look and you realize that the writer of this book and particularly this chapter would have each of us know that there will be only ONE (maybe more for a select few) thing, or act or confession that heaven records as qualifying us for the faith hall of fame!
This unique act by the qualified makes every error or fall he or she may commit, that men may judge as failure, pale away or is wiped off heaven’s records and the qualified shines as a star in the book of heaven! To illustrate a few, Moses’ anger failures (murder, breaking the stone tablets or striking the rock that followed them in the wilderness twice), Abraham’s lies, nor yet David’s adultery are reckoned in their records here. The question is why? It must be so important that if we must qualify, we ought to know what it is and press to attain this mark that only heaven knows and records.
Our daily walk with our heavenly Father must be cognizant of His faithfulness and patience that keep Him always waiting for us to return, whatever the circumstance, to trust and depend on His word.
Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. Isaiah 55:6-11
This is the reason that no man however deep he has fallen or how far he has departed can be written off for perishing until he goes to his grave without returning or the acceptable year of the Lord is over.
