Abundant Life (Part 1)

The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. John 10:10 NKJV

John 10:10 is a commonly quoted scripture and it’s good to read these two translations for full understanding. The question for every believer to answer is this: Whose definition of abundant life? This may look like an oxymoron, but it is important to determine whether it is abundant life as:

  • you define it, or as
  • the world you live in defines it or as
  • God who promised it defined it.

Your definition is your definition and that of the world is the world’s definition and neither of the two qualifies in any way to be interpreted as God’s definition. Revelation 3:17-18 contrasts man’s or the world’s definition of abundant life and reveals God’s definition of abundant life. God’s definition as stated in verse 18 are:

  1. Gold tried in fire (tested faith)
  2. White raiment (imputed and imparted righteousness of Christ); and
  3. Anointed eyes (single eye that your body may be full of light).

And you know what? If your choice definition and passion is after verse 17, you do not need God! Consider and search your heart to know where you are. Selah.
